Green Tara – The Swift Mother of Compassion

Green Tara, known as the “Mother of Liberation,” is one of the most beloved deities in Tibetan Buddhism. She represents active compassion, always ready to respond swiftly to those in need, offering protection from fears, dangers, and obstacles—both physical and spiritual.

She is portrayed in a poised, yet dynamic seated posture, with her right leg extended, symbolizing her readiness to step forward and help. Her right hand is extended in the gesture of giving (varada mudra), while her left hand shows the gesture of protection (abhaya mudra), both holding lotus flowers (utpala) symbolizing purity and enlightened action.
